Big Price Cut on Maruti Suzuki Cars: Save Up to ₹1.12 Lakh

Maruti Suzuki has reduced prices for many of its cars following the implementation of GST 2.0 in India. From 22 September 2025, new GST rules are in effect, and Maruti is passing the benefit directly to buyers. Popular small car models and SUVs are now notably cheaper.

The government, under the GST reform, simplified tax slabs and lowered rates for many types of cars. Small petrol and CNG cars under 4 metres now attract 18% GST instead of 28% plus cess. Larger or more premium cars may fall in higher slabs depending on size and engine. Maruti, being strong in the small car segment, benefits heavily.

Which Models Got Price Cuts

Many Maruti Suzuki models saw price drops. Cars like S-Presso, Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon-R, Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Dzire, Fronx, Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Jimny all had their ex-showroom prices lowered. The amount of price reduction depends on the variant, engine type, and whether the car qualifies under the small car category.

How Much You Can Save

Savings vary from model to model. For example, the Fronx dropped by about ₹64,000 to ₹1,11,000 depending on the variant because its petrol and CNG versions qualify under the new GST slab. Models like Brezza saw price cuts of nearly ₹1,12,700, Grand Vitara dropped by around ₹1,07,000, and many hatchbacks like Alto K10, Swift, and Baleno saved amounts in the tens of thousands.

Why Prices Dropped

The reason for these cuts is the government redefining tax slabs under GST 2.0. Cars under 4 metres with smaller engines, such as petrol up to 1,200cc and CNG variants, are now placed in an 18% tax category. Earlier, many of them were taxed at 28% plus cess, which kept prices higher. This reduction in tax translates to cheaper ex-showroom prices.

What This Means for Buyers

If you were planning to buy a Maruti car, especially a compact hatchback or small SUV, this is a good time. Lower ex-showroom price means you pay less not just for purchase, but also for insurance, registration, and other on-road costs. Dealers are already listing the revised lower prices from 22 September 2025.

Final Word

Maruti Suzuki’s price revision after the new GST rules gives strong savings for many models. For buyers of small cars and compact SUVs, the savings range from tens of thousands to over a lakh rupees, depending on model and variant. If you are considering buying a Maruti, now is one of the best times to get a better deal.
