Kia has officially unveiled the Kia EV2 on 9 January 2026 at the Brussels Motor Show, marking the global debut of its most compact dedicated electric SUV so far. The EV2 becomes Kia’s sixth electric-only model and is positioned as an entry point to electric mobility, designed mainly for urban use while still offering the space and features expected from an SUV.
The Kia EV2 has been developed to support modern city-focused lifestyles. Despite its compact size, Kia has focused on delivering a spacious cabin and a calm driving experience suited for everyday commuting. The EV2 is aimed at first-time electric vehicle buyers as well as households looking for a practical primary car for daily use.
In terms of design, the EV2 follows Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy. It carries a confident SUV stance with an upright profile, strong shoulder lines and pronounced wheel arches. Vertical lighting elements and Kia’s latest Star Map lighting signature give the EV2 a modern and distinctive appearance. A GT-Line version has also been introduced, offering a more expressive and lifestyle-oriented design.
Inside the cabin, the EV2 focuses on comfort and usability. Kia describes the interior concept as a “Picnic Box”, designed to create a calm and welcoming space for city driving. The dashboard integrates a wide panoramic display that combines the digital instrument cluster, climate controls and infotainment screen. Fabric-rich materials, ambient lighting and thoughtfully placed physical controls enhance ease of use and comfort.

The Kia EV2 will be offered with two battery options. The standard-range version uses a 42.2 kWh battery, while the long-range variant comes with a 61.0 kWh battery. The long-range version is expected to deliver a driving range of up to 448 km (WLTP). Fast charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes, depending on the variant.
For urban driving, the EV2 has been engineered to feel agile and easy to handle. Features such as optimized steering, compact dimensions and a focus on ride comfort make it suitable for city traffic. Practicality is further improved with flexible rear seating, generous headroom and a luggage capacity that can reach up to 403 litres with the rear seats positioned forward.
Technology and safety are key highlights of the EV2. It includes advanced driver assistance systems, connected car features, an EV route planner, Plug & Charge functionality and vehicle-to-load capability. Kia has also integrated digital services such as OTA updates and a digital key system to enhance everyday usability.
Production of the Kia EV2 is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with market-specific launch timelines to be announced later. With the EV2, Kia aims to make electric mobility more accessible while maintaining practicality, comfort and modern design.
